Introduced in 1994 the Ford 7.3L Powerstroke is found in the OBS or “Old Body Style” Ford F-Series trucks. These OBS Trucks are recognized for their classic styling, simplicity, and most importantly reliability. The 7.3L Powerstroke was offered in the Ford F-250 (3/4-Ton) and F-350 (1-Ton) pickups. The F-250 was equipped with twin-traction beam (TTB) independent front suspension and a Dana 50 front axle, while the F-350 featured the more durable Dana 60 solid front axle.
Based on the Navistar International T444E Engine, the 7.3L Powerstroke is a turbocharged, direct injection, 444 cubic inch, 8-Cylinder workhorse. The 7.3L Powerstroke features a HEUI (Hydraulic Electric Unit Injector) that uses highly pressurized engine oil to create fuel pressure in the injector body instead of requiring a conventional injection pump. This provides the 7.3L Powerstroke with increased performance, compared to the previous mechanical injection system. The 7.3L Powerstroke engine was offered with two transmission options during these years, the ZF S5-47 5-speed manual or the Ford E4OD 4-speed automatic transmission.
In the 1994.5-1995 models, power levels started out at 215 hp and 425 lb-ft and were then increased to 225 hp and 450 lb-ft for the 1996-1997 models. While the stock power of this truck was impressive back in 1994, it barely stands a chance when compared to the newer model diesels. Luckily the 7.3L Powerstroke responds well to modifications to help close that gap significantly. Cyberpunk Diesel carries a wide range of stock replacement and performance parts for your 1994-1997 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke to help extend service life, perform routine maintenance, or increase horsepower and torque. Shop hundreds of the top manufacturers to find all the engine, drivetrain, chassis and any other parts to keep your truck on the road.
